A Warm welcome to everyone
Let me begin my annual report by asking the blessings of Almighty God throughout this Annual day celebration Fiesta-2018. As we celebrate the 12th annual day of our school I would like to congratulate Management, Parents, Staff and students of Holy Innocents Public school for their effort to release the 7th edition of Laporta’18.Education is the foundation for a successful life. It is a process of imparting or acquires knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment and preparing oneself intellectually for mature life. A quality education a right and a necessity and when we support quality education we give a child limitless possibilities and a community future stability. As we approach to the end of 12th year of our service towards providing quality education, I take this opportunity to thank the Almighty God for his abundant blessings and guidance upon us through our patron saint’s Holy Innocents.
The new academic year 2017-18 was formally inaugurated by Fr. Rajesh Kunnuthara, Former Director and Senior Principal of Holy Innocents Public School on 5th June 2017. This academic year got auspicious starts with the Holy mass and traditional lighting of the lamp. On 7th June new K.G block was inaugurated by Very.Rev.Fr. Sunil Kallarackal OSJ Provincial Superior of the congregation, Oblates of St. Joseph, India along with K.G academic year inauguration. This year began with 1200 students on the roll, 43 teaching, 24 non-teaching and 8 extracurricular staff.
I am really proud to say that our fourth batch of X and second batch of XII students achieved good results in the CBSE Board Examination 2017-18. All the students who appeared for the AISSE Examination qualified for higher studies with good grades and 9 out of 40, got A1 grade in the entire subject. In AISSCE examination out of 21, 3 of them go distinction and all qualified for higher studies with first class. AISSCE topper are Preethi P, Ahja N and Amal Manjila S and AISSE toppers are Pooja S Kumar, A S Akshaya anil, Gayathri Y, Sona S Jiji, Athul S, Nihida Mohammed and Juno J. I take this opportunity to congratulate these students, parents and teachers for their sincere effort to achieve such an excellent result at the public examination. We arranged an honouring ceremony on 1st July 2017 to congratulate A+ holders and plus two toppers
Our students participated in various competitive examinations. This academic year 441 students appeared for PCM scholarship examination, out of 441, 10 students got A2 grade with scholarship of worth Rs. 501/- and 177 students got A3 grade with scholarship of worth Rs. 201/- Aiswarya B S of class III got Third Rank with scholarship of worth Rs. 1001/-.
In ERA International Talent Examination Lekshmisree S B of class X got First Rank with cash award of worth Rs. 3000/. Aryan L S (LKG) and Sruthi S (Std I) have got Best Performance Award and 56 students got Certificate for their excellence.
Alton Arch Spelling Bee School Championship 2017-18, out of 90, 36 students qualified to present at the Inter-school Championship
A solemn investiture ceremony was presided by Mr. Biju Sub Inspector of police Varkala on 19th June 2017. Master Abhimaneu and Kumari Devika S was selected as school head boy and head girl respectively. House captains and vice captains are Snehajan P, Akhil S, Mohammed Sameel Asif, Anantha Siva Narayanan, Anjali S S, Michellle Ann Jojo, Serina Shelton Miranda and Lekshmi. S.Athul S of class XI is selected as Sports Captain.
We have well organized PTA executive committee who work with parents and management to achieve an excellent result. Mr.Sunil Kumar the PTA president who leads our School PTA.
This year from the part of staff Mrs. Suma C.S is selected a staff secretary. I am proud enough to state that the entire team working together to bring a fruitful academic year.
Our teachers constantly strive to update by attending workshops and various training programs. Two day ‘Teachers’ enrichment Programme’ was conducted on 9th and 10th May 2017 by Dr.V.Bindu a CBSE resource person. The whole staff in our school got special chance to ‘Spiritual Preparation’ on 1st June 2017 by Fr.Anil (OSJ) Our teachers attended various workshops for subject’s Maths, Science and languages conducted by different publishers to innovate their subjects with a better understanding in keeping with the new trends in education. To ensure that our students are equipped to face any challenges, we have conducted various programs. An awareness class was arranged for both students and parents by Dr.L R Madhujan a Clinical Psychologist on 11th December 2017
Apart from academic excellence, we wish to equip our students with co-curricular and artistic skills. For this we have formed various clubs to develop intellectual and aesthetic skills of our students.
Science club was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. U S Hareesh (Council of science and Industrial Research) on 30th June 2017 to create awareness among the students to save the nature and the importance of cleanliness, health and hygiene. As part of Science club activity students planted saplings in the school campus marking the importance of healthy and green environment.
Literary club was inaugurated by Dr.George Onakoor famous writer of critic, Malayalam Literature on 12th July 2017. To expose student’s talents in the field of literature this year also we have conducted competitions like elocution, story writing and versification
Arts club was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. U S Hareesh (CSIR) on 30th June 2017. As a part of Arts club, competition like drawing, music, dance, dramas were conducted.
Sports club is formed with an intention to develop the physical abilities of the students. The club was inaugurated by Mr. Ramesh Kumar Circle Inspector of Police Varkala. Students are given training in various indoor and outdoor games. As part of sports club house vice competitions were conducted.
Apart from all these we are giving special training in drawing, painting, karate, music, dance, craft work and instruments like piano, guitar, drums, Chenda and and tabala. It provides ample opportunities to highlight the hidden talents in our students both inside and outside the campus.
ANNUAL SPORTS MEET
The Annual sports meet was inaugurated by Shri.Omana Kumari, Indian field Hockey Player and Arjuna award winner on 22nd September 2017. There was a fair and highly spirited competition among the four houses of the school. The prizes were distributed to the winners. Sports meet became a great success with the sincere work and participation of teachers and students.
The Arts fest (‘Glissando’ -17) was held on 9th, 10th and 11th November 2017. Fest was inaugurated by Fr. Vincent Valiyaparambil Director of holy Innocents Public School and distributed prizes to the winners. It was a platform where the student’s hidden talents were displayed. Competitions like music, dance, mimicry, mono-act, drawing, painting, drama mime etc. were conducted.
Athul S of XI won First place in 100m race in Keralotsavam 2017 and also got Best Performance Award in Athletics conducted by Kerala State tailors Association.
Rhea Rebecca George of class three won Third place and Runner-up in TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP 2017 MINI CADET GIRLS.
Aleena S Raj of class X got Appreciation Award in chess championship from Kollam Bar Association and Second place in State Open Rapid Chess 2017.
DESIYA BALATHARANGAM SHALABHALBAMELA 2017 our school won U. Neelakantan Ex MLA Memmorial Ever Rolling Trophy for HSS category. Devna of class XI got A grade in all the six events participated. Other winners are Michelle Ann Jojo, Anjali S S, Devika Shibu, Anaswara Syam, Nandana S, Sreerag and Devarag.
SAHODAYA SPORTS TALENTS, Our School participated in Sahodaya Inter School Sports Meet which held on 9th and 10th December 2017. I am proud to tell you that our school got Category Champions for the category I boys and category I girls and Over all Runner Up in Boys section in the sahodhaya sports meet 2017. Godson R of class V and Athul S of plus one got Individual Championship. Sahodaya winners are Athul S, Sona S Jiji , Vismaya D Sreelekshmi, Godson, Adithyan R Famida S, Gulzam Zaira Naufal, Jibin J, Shifa J N, Kain G, Philip, Aiswarya Raj, Aleena S, Deleena, Kalyani S, Resmi R, A Nakshathra, Safa Sadheer,Abhijith R S, Amrith D Binu, Anudeep, Aswin S, A Arif Mohammed and Hemand E
Celebrations are inevitable part in school life to promote the brotherhood and togetherness.
Environment Day; World environment day was celebrated in our school on 5th June2017. Rev.Fr.Rajesh Kunnuthara former director of our school inaugurated the function by planting samplings in the school campus.
Independence Day; Arousing a deep sense of patriotic commitment, we celebrated 71st Independence Day on 15th August with colourful programmes. Mr.Ramesh Kumar Circle Inspector of police Varkala was the chief guest.
Onam was celebrated in our school on 31st August with a glimpse of nostalgic traditions that our ancestors followed. The students celebrated and enjoyed the day with variety entertainment programmes like Pookalam, Tug of war, Pulikali, Uriyadi etc.
Christmas celebration was held on 22nd December 2017. By commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, to spread the message of love and mercy our students staged variety programmes. Our Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Anooj Panakkal delivered Christmas message.
Important days like Teachers day, children’s day, Republic Day etc were celebrated in the school in due manner.
Holy Innocents family warmly welcomed the new kids to our school on 7th June. Children are taught and evaluate through different activities. Festivals are celebrated in a colorful manner.
Fruits Day;To give our KG kids the basic knowledge of science we celebrated Fruits day in our school on 28th July. Dr.Krishnakumar, Associate Prof. Dept of Community Medicine, S R Medical College inaugurated the function by giving valuable message to our children.
Colours Day; To develop colour sense among the children, Colours’ Day was celebrated on 30th November. Rev.Fr.Jino Thomas Mannumadam Parish priest Attingl inaugurated the function by delivering a wonderful message to our KG children.
Balakalotsav; Balakalotsav was held on 7th and 8th November for our KG kids. Almost all the students were participated in the events. Prizes were distributed to the winners on colour’s day by our guest Rev. Fr. Jino Thmas. Apart from this separate Onam and Christmas celebration conducted for the KG students. we are giving special attention and care for all-round development of our little angels.
Charity means willingness to help other. Helping those who are really in need is a rare and good quality indeed. In this case our OSJ management is a really role model to our students by giving educational help to more than 100 students who are financially backward.
Medical Help; Our students also follow the path of our management and raised a fund or Rs 75000 with the help of staff and management for the liver transplantation of a little child Diya from Cherunniyur Panchayath.
Gandhi Bhavan visit; Together with our PTA executive we visited Gandhi Bhavan, Pathanapuram, Kollam and celebrated Christmas with the inmates, which made our children more empathetic. We contributed Rs.25000 to Gandhi Bhavan.
Okhi Relief Activities; Our management donated Rs.1 lakh to the Okhi Relief fund through Arch Diocese Trivandrum.
Tours and excursions are essential part of curriculum. This year KG to Std IV students were taken for a one-day trip to happy Land. The students of Std V to IX had a one-day trip to Tenmala Dam & Palaruvy Waterfalls. The students of Std X were taken for a 4-day trip to Vayanad, Coorg, and Mysore. Those were moments of enjoyment and relaxation and will be cherished for a long time to come.
Before I conclude let me thank God Almighty for his abundant blessings upon our school throughout the year. I am really grateful to our Provincial Superior Rev.Fr. Sunil Kallarakkal for his support and guidance. I express my heartfelt thanks to, our school Director Rev.Fr.Vincent Valiyaparambil and our Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Anooj Panakkal for their Administrative Support and being a part in the overall progress of our school.
May I take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to Parents, staff teaching and non teaching, students, and well-wishers for their whole hearted support and cooperation.
Let me conclude this report by entrusting our school into the divine hands of Holy Innocents our patron saints and invoke blessings of Lord Jesus.
